We have a new Regional Brevet Administrator(RBA)!

Bobbi Fisher, is stepping down from the RBA position. We wish her good luck with her future endeavors and may the wind always be at her back. We hope she will be able attend some of our future events. She will be greatly missed.

Greg Jones has applied for and has been accepted as the new RBA of the Pacific Coast Highway Randonneurs. Please send inquiries to Greg Jones gsjco@pacbell.net

Below is a message from Bobbi:

Hello Fellow Randonneurs:

It is sad to announce that I have to resign as your RBA.  I am moving to China!  I have turned over PCH RANDOS to Greg Jones (gsjco@pacbell.net) who has been accepted by RUSA as the new RBA.  He is an awesome organizer who assisted me all the time.  He also designed our routes along with Foster Nagaoka and checked out inch-by-inch by Randy Graves. I also want to thank Lisa Jones and Linda Bott for all the assistance they provided for me…and all of our staff volunteers!

I am moving to China to assist a great friend of mine who wants to start a major charity organization based in Chengdu, China.  I know this will be a great adventure and a life changing experience…Well, in some ways.  What won’t change is my biking.  I plan on starting a brevet series in China, along with weekend bike tours for tourists.  So, anyone coming to China and wanting a great weekend experience…or come to ride ACP brevets, make sure you contact me:  bfisher901@aol.com.  I will be coming back to USA for some major events.  RAAM and Furnace Creek 2009 so I know I’ll be seeing many of you next year.

Ride Safe!

Big hug and brevet brownies to all of you!

Bobbi

Information About PCH Randos

Pacific Coast Highway Randonneurs is based in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. Bordered by the Pacific and the mountains of Southern California, we have some of the most scenic riding in the world at our front wheels.

Members from the Los Angeles Wheelmen and the Channel Islands Bicycle Club have volunteered to form the PCH Randonneurs. We encourage you to become members of either of these clubs. In becoming members of either club, you will also be eligible to ride the brevets at a $5.00 discount.

Randonneuring is non-competitive, long distance cycling. Camaraderie, not competition is the hallmark of randonneuring. Emphasis is placed upon being self-supported, however, support is available at various controls along the routes, and for most brevets we do have a sweep vehicle.

If you are looking for a little more of a challenge than your local century or double century ride and enjoy the company of others who are more interested in seeing you finish than dropping you on the next climb, then please join us.

A Super Randonneur series consists of four brevets:

200 Kilometer (125 Miles) with a time limit of 13.5 hours

300 Kilometer (185 Miles) with a time limit of 20.0 hours

400 Kilometer (250 Miles) with a time limit of 27.0 hours

600 Kilometer (375 Miles) with a time limit of 40.0 hours

Only Super Randonneurs are allowed to attempt the ultimate Randonneuring challenge – the 1,200 kilometer (750 mile) randonnée which must be completed in 90 hours.

In 2008 there are four such randonnées in North America:

Rocky Mountain 1,200

Shenandoah 1,200

Last Chance 1,200

Cascades 1,200
